LaGuardia Community College
Alumni Art Exhibition from May 14-22
Reception on May 20
Long Island City, NY--The Humanities Department of LaGuardia Community College is pleased to announce an Alumni Exhibition of graduates from the Fine Arts Program to be held at The Experimental Space at Reis Studios 43-01 22nd Street, Long Island City, Queens. The Exhibition will run from May 14th through May 22nd with a reception for the artists on Friday, May 20th from 5-9 p.m. Admission-free and open to the public.
Fine Arts graduates from LaGuardia are highly sought after as transfer students by the most prestigious and competitive art programs in the country. Students in the Fine Arts Program benefit from an internationally diverse student body and a faculty of working artists committed to providing students with hands on experience in the foundations including life drawing, art history, sculpture, painting, as well as analog and digital photography.
This exhibition represents a sample of artists who work in such diverse mediums as photography, sculpture, multi-media installation, painting and video. The artists in this exhibition are recent graduates from the School of Visual Arts, Yale University, The Art Institute of Chicago and Hunter College, as well as other four year programs. The work in this exhibition represents not just the cultural diversity of the student body but the excellence and ambition that these artists bring to their diverse mediums. The exhibition will bring to the fore conceptual rigor, visceral materiality and the narrative, all bound by artistic ambition and idiosyncratic desire.
Inquiries should be sent to: Michael Rodriguez, Chair/Humanities Department, mirodriguez@lagcc.cuny.edu
